FTO and rookie get into gunfight

This footage comes from the Police Department in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It shows two police officers- a rookie and his Field Training Officer (FTO)- attempting to make contact with a person considered to be a known threat. The suspect sprints away, opening fire with a handgun and prompting an exchange of gunfire between himself and the officers. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it shows that while learning the finer points of policing on the job is necessary, it can also be incredibly dangerous.
