Russian assault on Kupyansk repulsed

A Russian mechanized assault is stooped by Ukraine’s 43rd Brigade with a combined arms defense including indirect fire, FPV drones, and drone dropped munitions. What appears to be a BMP platoon is caught in the open without any coverage from EW or air defense assets. Various types of IDF appear to be at play, including mortars and artillery firing DPICM cluster munitions. Once vehicles are brought to a halt by FPV drones, they are engaged by artillery as the infantry dismount, and then the stragglers are hunted with drone-dropped munitions.Kupyansk is an administrative center and rail hub in Kharkiv Oblast, located east south-east of the city of Kharkiv. By January of this year, the Russian Army had established a salient in the lines north of Kharkiv and was massing forces to take the town and shove the Ukrainian lines back towards Kharkiv. An operation that began with brigade and battalion-level operations have devolved into companies and platoons being flung at Ukrainian lines, while Ukrainian troops conduct counterattacks to retake ground. A Ukrainian battalion commander informed the New Voice of Ukraine that the Russians took advantage of adverse weather whenever possible, to minimize the effectiveness of Ukrainian drones. Attacks often include “quad-bikes” to serve as a feint and to draw attention from the main mechanized force. He described a recent attack as poorly coordinated and stated that it quickly lost cohesion. This footage would lend credibility to that statement.
