Syrian forces, Druze, Israelis clash

The drama continues in southern Syria, where animosity between Druze and Bedouin tribes has boiled over in the city of Suwayda. Fighting between the two sides escalated when Syrian government forces entered the city in support of the Bedouin and began engaging Druze fighters. Israel, which supports the more than 700,000 Druze in Syria, launched airstrikes against Syrian government forces entering the city. According to Reuters, Druze spiritual leaders announced that government forces would be welcomed into the city, providing they stopped the violence. When government troops joined tribal militias in firing on locals and set fire to a shop that sold alcohol, the Israeli government decided to intervene. Citing the “deep brotherhood” between Syrian and Israeli Druze, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered airstrikes against regime forces and equipment entering he city. Netanyahu stated that the use of government forces in Suwayda is a breach of the new Syrian government’s demilitarization policy. The deployment of Israeli ground forces to southern Syria is a possibility.

Fresh anti-aircraft machine gunnery technique

Combat footage recorded by members of the Free Syrian Army in Aleppo, Syria, during the height of the Syrian Civil War shows a fighter inventing his own anti-aircraft machine gun technique. The method, masterfully demonstrated in this short video, involves bracing the bipod against the soles of his feet with his legs while firing wildly in the general direction of enemy aircraft.

Aleppo Stairway Ambush from Syrian Civil War

Footage so old that it still features a LiveLeak (RIP) watermark in the top left corner shows an ambush attack against a Syrian Arab Army soldier that took place during combat operation in Aleppo back in 2015 or 2016. This footage is being shared online as current footage from the on-going conflict between the Syrian regime and SDF forces on Facebook and several other social media platforms. These claims are false, as the footage was filmed during the height of the Syrian Civil War by Rebel forces who are now in control of the Syrian government ten years later.

Four minutes of Syrian rebel combat In Khatab

This footage is essentially a highlight reel of the Syrian rebel assault on Khatab, Hama. Covering a full spectrum of vehicular, infantry, artillery and drone perspectives of the attack, which occurred in early December 2024, it features some frankly impressive editing- Hamas, take note. Viewer discretion is advised as some KIA are shown, but the editing is more evocative of an action film than gore. After three years of highly-documented combat in Ukraine, the level to which the Syrian military was unprepared to deal with FPV drones and dropped munitions remains surprising.

Pursuit by fire on former regime troops

Footage recorded by a member of the new Syrian military regime shows a pair of men attempting to escape near the Baniyas Mountains. While they retreat, entirely unarmed, a pursuit by fire action can be heard occurring before the two men are gunned down. According to the source of the footage, the two men were former Assad Regime Soldiers. It's unclear if they had conducted any actions that would make them a legitimate military threat to the group that is conducting the pursuit by fire: however, they appear to be unarmed.

Rebels use missile as really big sniper round

Footage recorded during the peak of the Syrian Civil War in 2016 captures the moment rebel fighters from the Free Syrian Army use an anti-tank guided missile system like it's a really large sniper rifle. This was common place during that conflict, as ATGMs were popularized when the American Central Intelligence Agency flooded the region with TOW missiles to support rebel forces against the Assad regime.

The battle for deir hafir gate in Aleppo

Footage released by the new Syrian Government shows an attack against a critical checkpoint on the outskirts and entry point to Deir Hafer, which is a town in the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate of Syria, approximately 50 km east of Aleppo city. The checkpoint lies near strategic routes connecting Aleppo to Raqqa and other northeastern areas under SDF control, making it a critical point of control for SDF troops in the region. Syrian Army operations targeted multiple sites, numbered 1-4 on published maps of the area, identifying them as SDF/PKK bases used for launches toward Aleppo. SDF/PKK annotations are a blanket term used by Syrian and Turkish sources for the YPG, which is why you see so much American equipment at the positions. The equipment was provided by the United States during clashes with the Islamic State in the late 2010s. On January 13, the Syrian Ministry of Defence declared Deir Hafer and nearby Maskanah as closed military zones, accusing the SDF of regrouping, deploying Iranian-made drones to attack civilians in Aleppo, and destroying three bridges linking areas east of the city. The SDF denied these claims and any deployment to the front. On January 16th, reports of intense shelling on SDF positions in Deir Hafer, starting around 19:00. Syrian Army announced a "response" against SDF bases, publishing maps of targeted sites used for alleged drone launches and operations toward Aleppo. The SDF described the city as under heavy artillery fire from Damascus factions. On January 17 the footage above was filmed, and the Syrian Army advanced, taking control of Deir Hafer after SDF withdrawal, amid clashes in several towns east of Aleppo. The SDF reported attacks by government-affiliated factions on their positions, leading to confrontations. The footage above reportedly shows Syrian soldiers attacking the YPG at the Deir Hafir Gate route, marking the initial engagement that escalated to broader fighting. What you'll notice about this footage is that it was edited by and in the same fashion as common Islamic Extremist propaganda that was released throughout the Syrian Civil War. If you're at all familiar with the Islamic State's style of video editing, you'll probably recognize the editing work here in this combat edit that was released by the Syrian Government. For the most part, this appears to be unprovoked aggression by the Syrian regime and Turkish-backed forces to seize territory, violating previous ceasefire agreements in the region. I will be archiving the Syrian Civil War until I am 70 at this stage.
