African troops arrive in Haiti to battle gangs
Troops from the central African nation of Chad arrive in Port au Prince as the lead echelon of a UN-backed gang suppression force. This multi-national force is intended to replace Kenyan troops operating in the troubled Caribbean nation. The gang-suppression force will assist Haitian national police to suppress the violent gangs on the island and to provide security for the upcoming national elections.
