Al-Jighaifa tribesmen back at it in 2025

This footage shows machine gunners from Iraq's Al-Jighaifa tribe (also rendered as "Jughaifa" or "Jighayfa" depending on the source). In a sterling example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," these tribesmen are shown continuing their 15+ year tradition of using Toyota trucks and automatic weapons to interdict ISIS in the desert. In this case, one of the Hilux trucks is so new it still has dealership stickers on the windows. This is one hell of a test drive. The broad, flat expanse of the desert makes perfect ground for accuracy by volume, and resulted in 3 ISIS KIA, one of which is briefly visible.

Kachin Independence Army fires captured howitzer

This quick clip shows the Kachin Independence Army (with the unfortunate acronym of KIA) firing a captured howitzer which formerly belonged to the Myanmar military junta. It is unclear whether this is a test or if they have a distant target. Despite jokes about the abbreviated form of their name, the KIA is one of the most historically effective anti-junta factions in the war, and in addition to combat efficacy, they now manage production of in-house versions of many of the small arms used in the conflict.

Unsung Iraqi hero infiltrates ISIS

This footage shows an Iraqi Intelligence agent and largely unknown hero in action. Captain Harith Al-Sudani saved innumerable lives in the Iraq War and foiled ISIS operations time after time. This is just a snapshot of a chapter of a story that deserves to be more widely known.

Kurdish ambulance has close call with death

Dashcam footage recorded by a Kurdish ambulance in either Northern Iraq or Syria that was filmed on January 12, 2025, captures a near miss with what is allegedly a Turkish airstrike. For several frames between :24 and :25 seconds you can actually see the round traveling along its path to the Earth. Had these dude's been driving just a few MPH faster, they would had the insides of their ambulance all over the outside.

Second view of Syrian Army truck being double-teamed

About a month ago, a short video was published to the site showing the perspective of an HTS fighter armed with an AK-47 shooting into a pickup truck that was being driven by a Syrian Arab Army officer in the city of Aleppo. Towards the end of that brief clip, and RPG can be seen impacting with the truck, stopping it. This footage shows a second angle of that same incident, recorded from the perspective of the RPG shooter. I have combined both clips of the ambush into one video above.

Iraqi Army attacks ISIS tunnel near Mosul

The burning tire was placed at one of the entry points in an attempt to smoke the Islamic State fighters out at another location that was covered by an adjacent unit. The overhead fire technique that the Iraqi Soldier is using to suppress the tunnel entrance is something that must have been taught to them by Army Reservists during our earlier occupation of the country.

Syrian Blue Falcon parks APC on buddy

This drone footage, released by the Syrian Defense Forces, shows the staggering amount of incompetence in play by what appears to be the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army militia. A Kurdish drone strike wounds one of them and spooks the rest, and the driver of an FSA APC, unaware that his wounded buddy is downed behind the vehicle, backs over him and parks it on top of him. Yikes.

Taliban fighters in full retreat after clash with Pakistan

Cell phone footage published by a Pakistani Soldier shows several Taliban fighters in a full-on retreat after a failed attack against the military checkpoint. Rumor has it, the Taliban were confused because this is the first time in the last 23 years that politicians from an oppositional force have allowed the enemy to shoot back at them.

Kurdish SDF marksman with Zagros rifle

This footage, shot near Manbij, Syria, shows a member of the Kurdish-led SDF faction using a "Zagros" rifle. The weapon is a craft-built, Kurdish-made anti-materiel rifle, which made its debut around ten years ago with the Peshmerga forces. Material released from the time suggests that the rifles were made from the barrels of 14.5-millimeter ZPU anti-aircraft guns. He is purportedly engaging the Syrian National Army (aka Free Syrian Army), a Turkish-backed militia which is distinct from the actual Syrian army. However, notably bad form casts some doubt on this, as does his selfie-taking buddy. Hanging the barrel out the window and reloading before noting the impact of the sent round in order to correct are both indicators that this team is made up of amateurs, or the situation is not a serious one, or a little of both.

SDF clashes with SNA in Syria at Tishrin Dam

Drone footage released by Kurdish SDF forces near the Tishrin Dam shows clashes with the Turkish backed SNA. It appears that while the Syrian Civil War may have officially come to an end, tensions and combat in the region are far from finished.

IED attack on India's Central Reserve Police Force

This footage, released by Falcon Squad of the Kashmir-based and unimaginatively named "Resistance Front" (abbreviated TRF, with the "T" for... wait for it... "The") shows an IED attack on India's Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which is reported to have occurred on 11 December, 2024. The CRPF is India's largest paramilitary organization, and is dedicated to administering law and order in India's territories. TRF represents itself as a Kashmiri independence and resistance movement, which was founded in 2019 in response to India's revocation of the Kashmir territory's special status. Conversely, Indian authorities believe it to be related to a Pakistani Jihadist organization known as Lashkar-e-Taiba. TRF has carried out numerous attacks against Indian businesses and government officials. The IED attack shown here was reported to have injured five CRPF troops.

Israeli Airforce targets remaining Syrian jets

A strike package recorded and released by the Israeli Air Force shows the systematic destruction of remaining Syrian aircraft. These attacks were conducted to effectively neuter the airpower of the Syrian nation as it goes through what is likely going to be a transitory period between the Assad Regime and the new HTS lead government.

IDF obliterates remaining Assad regime military infrastructure

The Israeli Defense Force carried out several hundred airstrikes in Syria over the past three days, targeting what remained of ousted Syrian President Bashar al Assad's military infrastructure. The intention was to ensure none of the weapons and equipment could be used by the jihadist armies that just overtook the country. Targets included airfields, naval bases, AA systems, munitions storage bunkers, weapons factories, ships, aircraft, and armored vehicles.

Airstrike smashes Syrian hospital

More footage is coming out of the pro-Assad airstrike that smashed the University Hospital in Idlib. Initial reports indicated that a Russian warplane dropped the bomb, but it may also have been a Syrian regime aircraft dropping Russian munitions. As seen from the four different angles of CCTV footage, the hospital was not a military target occupied by HTS, but was actually in operation as a functioning hospital, providing care and treating patients.

NRF ambush on Taliban forces in Panjshir

We cannot independently the timeframe in which this footage was recorded, however it is interesting to see tribal rebels in the mountains of Afghanistan rocking American sleeping systems and rifles tricked out with Michigan-made Trijicon optics.

Unicorn Force strikes small boat with drone bomb

Drone footage coming out of Myanmar this week shows a recent attack against a Junta small boat on the Ayeyarwaddy River. The lead time on the attack is quite impressive, considering the group manages to score a direct hit on the side of the boat. It's worth noting that the group that released this footage call themselves the "Unicorn Force." Judging from the unit logo, I believe they may have been intending to call themselves something like "Pegasus" to seem more intimidating, but the name was lost in translation somewhere so we get "Unicorn Force" instead.
