Hillsborough Marine Unit assists with yacht club conflagration
This footage, courtesy of Hillsborough County, Florida, shows the HCSO Marine Unit responding to a fire involving a pair of boats at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club on 16 March, 2026. The deputies aboard the Marine Unit kept the burning vessels from touching off other boats. Both burning boats were uncrewed, and despite the heavy smoke, no deputies were injured. An investigation is ongoing and both immolated boats were total losses.

This quick clip comes courtesy of Florida's Hillsborough County. On 14 March 2026, Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop a suspect later identified as Danny Wilson, 38 years of age. However, he refused to comply and led the deputies on a short-lived but dangerous high-speed chase, weaving in and out of traffic. Fortunately, the grappler attachment on the pursuing cruiser made short work of his escape attempt. Although Wilson seemed incredulous that the deputies would point weapons at him, the responding HCSO deputy correctly pointed out that he couldn't know what Wilson may have had in the car, and that fleeing from something as innocuous as a traffic stop only raises suspicions. This compilation of bodycam and oncoming train footage- yes, you read that correctly- shows an officer from Abington, Massachusetts preventing a woman in severe emotional distress from being killed by a locomotive travelling at speed. Abington Police Department's Sergeant Marquardt is a veteran with over 30 years on the force, and he did not hesitate to protect the woman from her own choices. Even though the woman resisted, he restrained her as the train rolled past. With support from other officers, Marquardt took the woman to a waiting ambulance in order to transport her to mental health assets. As Abington Police Department stated in their praise of Sergeant Marquardt: "Valor is the quiet decision to risk your life so that someone else may keep theirs."

This February 2026 footage from Webster, Massachusetts shows officers responding to reports that a vehicle was crushing someone at a local auto parts store. The jack beneath the vehicle had failed, resulting in the would-be mechanic being pinned beneath. With his upper body compressed by the vehicle, the man was unresponsive and not breathing. However, by lifting the car and pulling him from beneath it, the officers enabled the subject-turned-patient to resume respiration. He was admitted to UMASS, where he recovered from non-threatening injuries.

This Ring doorbell camera footage from Elyria, Ohio, shows a family being taken hostage by the fleeing suspect of an armored truck robbery on 21 January 2026. With police in hot pursuit, the suspect probably expected to buy some time with hostages as leverage. However, the first officer on scene, acting out of justified concern for the homeowner's safety, skips the negotiations. He kicks the door in and immediately shoots and kills the suspect. While off-camera, the action is clearly audible. We may miss out on seeing some excellent police work, but we also don't have to see the several small children witness a shootout either, so as a cop and a father, I'm calling this one balanced.

This security camera footage from Buenos Aires, Argentina, shows two would-be bandits attempting to rob a poultry plant on 05 January, 2026. However, in a twist normally reserved for Jason Statham movies, one of the blue collar guys just trying to make a living turns out to be a former police officer. Keep your eye on the man in the green shirt. With trained ease, he snatches the gun, reported to be a 9-millimeter, from one of the assailants. To his credit, the robber immediately tries to take the gun back, but isn't nearly as skilled and winds up getting shot as he flees. The now-armed employee then chases and shoots the other bandit, who collapses amongst the pallets. After action reports show that the the first gunman turned himself in wounded later in the day, and the second, who was carrying a .45 caliber pistol, died on-scene.

This footage comes from Thurston County, Washington, where on 16 February 2026, police attempted to interdict a car travelling at speeds of 96 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. The driver refused to stop and vehicular chase initiated. It culminated when the driver entered a known drug compound and attempted to flee further on foot. Enter K9 Asher. The police K9 tracked, bit and pinned the suspect until police could effect his arrest. Despite being kicked by the suspect, Asher remained task-focused and locked-on. A large amount of narcotics paraphernalia was found in the suspect vehicle, and the suspect's behavior suggested he was impaired. Therefore, and somewhat surprisingly, in my humble opinion, despite a litany of other charges the suspect was not charged with injuring a police K9, as the kick was not considered intentional.

This footage is provided b Kentucky's Louisville Metropolitan Police Department and shows their air assets being put to tactical advantage in the search for an armed suspect. A surveillance camera system spotted a car known to be stolen, at which point Louisville's Air 10 began monitoring the car and occupants, talking the ground units onto their targets. Using a thermal imaging suite, the pilot was able to discern one of the suspects hiding in a trash can. Once it became clear he'd been made, the suspect attempted to flee, dropping a handgun shortly before his capture. Without prior warning, the LMPD could have had a very bad day.

This footage, from Duane, New York, shows New York State Police conducting a property damage investigation. However, things go badly awry when an SUV loaded with five people fails to stop for a stop sign, blowing the intersection and striking one of the officers before plowing into her cruiser at speed. Miraculously, the officer involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the occupants of the SUV declined treatment. The driver of the Dodge Durango claimed the sun prevented him from seeing the stop sign or the State Police. While it was admittedly his responsibility, no statement was given as to why four other sets of eyes missed the same stop sign or police cruiser. This story could have easily had a very different and tragic ending.

This bodycam footage coming in from Atlanta Georgia shows police conducting a traffic stop involving one Sylvon Brush, 30 years of age. On 22 January, 2026, Brush was stopped on the grounds that he was driving with a suspended license (DWLS). However, he failed to comply with officers' commands and tried to flee on foot, initiating a chase that neuromuscular incapacitation quickly ended. Whether by accident or design, the officer does not tase him until he is across the street and out of traffic. His reason for running from such a minor offense was revealed when, during a search incident to his arrest, four pounds of marijuana and a firearm were found in his car. These items presented severe criminal liability to Brush, who is a convicted felon.

According to an official statement by St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the emu kicked with its large talons before fleeing, forcing the deputy to use a field-expedient lasso. He then used his handcuffs to restrain the murderous claws of a modern-day dinosaur, sealing his fate as an absolute menace to games of "Never Have I Ever." This collection of bodycam footage shows Los Angeles Police Department officers responding to a 911 call involving an armed suspect who had threatened bystanders with a handgun. The suspect refused to obey commands and eventually traded gunfire with LAPD before dropping the weapon. Seeing this, the LAPD officers do an excellent job of "reining it in." While physically combative, the suspect was detained without further incident and no one was harmed by the gunfire of either party. However benignly it may have ended, this incident highlights some common issues in verbal de-escalation. Firstly, "You're not in trouble," is a bit of a tough sell from an officer with his weapon drawn. From an officer safety standpoint, not having his weapon drawn is a no-go, so something more transitional may have been appropriate- "We can get through this with no one getting hurt," for example. It's a true statement that establishes a common cause and doesn't seem contradicted by the actions taking place. Secondly, and related to contradictions: Albeit he's doing it with a gun, the first officer is taking a conciliatory approach. This is completely countermanded by the second officer: "Drop it or I'm going to shoot you." Giving the armed suspect conflicting information is great for overclocking the OODA loop, but bad if you want him to focus on or follow the commands of either officer.

It's not often I use the term "unit" to refer to a single person on this site, but he earns the title as he solos an entire school bus full of children, pushing it out of oncoming traffic. This occurred on 16 December, 2025. Dennis McIntire, a bystander who provided this footage, described the moment as "dumbfounding", and rightfully so. Your standard school bus weighs between 20,000 and 30,000 pounds without the weight of the students. He pushed it an approximate dozen feet, which is around 11 feet, 11 inches further than most of us could have moved an empty bus. The thing got pushed like it was Jake Paul's jaw.

This footage, coming from Newburgh Heights, Ohio, shows their officers attempting to interdict a stolen vehicle. Unbeknownst to the police, the wheelman and passengers are 11, 12, and 8 years of age, respectively. After leading the cops on a short chase, the 11-year-old wheelman loses control of the white sedan and crashes it into a house. As the police round the corner around which the last suspect had been seen running, they find the criminal masterminds to be children. Fortunately, no one was hurt, including the home's occupants. Upon being questioned, the children admitted they had learned to steal and drive the car from watching Youtube videos. Due to their ages, they have been released to their parents while the juvenile court system begins its processess.
