Terrorists sack army base

A recent attack by the Al Qaeda-affiliated JNIM terrorist group on a Beninese army compound left twelve soldiers dead. Located south of Burkina Faso and Niger and west of Nigeria, Beninese is being plagued with many of the security issues facing its larger neighbors but lacks the resources to manage them. After a launching a nationwide offensive in Mali more than a month ago, JNIM faced a tough resistance from the Malian army and its Russian allies, and so the militants shifted their attention to easier, more lucrative targets. Driving south towards the sea, JNIM is rampaging across the Beninese countryside with little to stop it. Benin lacks an effective air force, with only eleven workable helicopters, giving the terrorists free reign across the countryside with little to stop them or even provide government troops an accurate location.
