Apache gunship buzzes US Convoy in Syria
Footage recorded by US troops in Syria shows a set of low level flybys carried out by AH-64 Apache pilots conducting route security for the maneuver element. The attack helicopters serve as aerial reconnaissance for the convoy as they are able to scan ahead for any threats or obstacles. They are also able to provide immediate fire support should the friendly trucks become engaged by hostile elements. Another benefit of having the aircraft on station is the obvious deterrence against an enemy attack, as they would have to be out of their minds to mess with such an aircraft.
