FPV drone war drops Syria expansion
This collection of FPV drone strikes comes from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-led, US-backed coalition of militias in armed opposition to the Islamic State. Here, they're striking vehicles and equipment belonging to the Syrian state military, which enjoys the backing and materiel support of Turkiye/Turkey. The inevitable proliferation of cheap, replaceable drones marches inexorably onward, securing its place as a force multiplier in another conflict- this time, in Syria. As is also the case with anti-junta militias in Myanmar, FPV drones will become increasingly important to the Syrian Democratic Forces who are at a logistical and firepower disadvantage, particularly after their forces were all but routed from Syria in early January 2026.
