Militants seize supply route in Burkina faso
On August 18, fighters from the Islamic militant group Jama'at Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM) raided the village of Tanwalbougou. This settlement lies on the N6 Highway, a critical route that links Burkina Faso with Niger. The two beleaguered West African nations cooperate on security issues in order to combat a virulent Islamic insurgency infesting the region.
