Sudanese troops destroy UAE vehicle
Militiamen fighting alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) pose alongside a burning armored personnel carrier. The vehicle is a NIMR Ajban 440A, a wheeled armored personnel carrier produced in the UAE and provided to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The SAF and RSF have waged a brutal civil war for several years, which has since evolved into a proxy war between regional and national powers. The UAE has been a stanch, though clandestine support of the RSF, providing weapons and funding and a marketplace for smuggled goods and resources, while Russia has also deployed Wagner Group and Africa Corps troops in support of the RSF. On the other side, the SAF is supported by Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Eritrea, and some sources indicate that Ukraine has sent operatives and drones to thwart Russian interests. The result is ongoing violence and an RSF that refuses to die. They currently seef to secure territorial gains in Darfur and have declared a parallel government to the one in Khartoum. Even if they suffer serious setbacks, the RSF will retreat into Syria and await support, which UAE will grant in hope of a negotiated settlement that will grant them influence in the region.
