Militants clear army post in Burkina Faso
Militants from the Al Qaeda-affiliated JNIM clear an Army outpost in Gomboro, a hamlet in northwest Burkina Faso, on the border with Mali. The jihadists rampage through the army encampment, firing into shelters that presumably house the soldiers stationed there. They then appear to refuel their motorcycles from jerry cans before mounting and preparing to ride off, like some post-apocalyptic biker gang. Their operational methods appear effective and create significant problems for the nations of the Sahel, though JNIM lacks the panache of the Toecutter, and none of militants are riding anything as sweet as a 1978 Kawasaki KZ-1000.
